Overview
Multi-AI Chat is a browser extension that allows users to send the same prompt to multiple AI chatbot services simultaneously. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we handle it, how we store it, and with whom we share it.
Data We Collect
Account Information
If you choose to create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used for authentication and account identification
- Password — used for authentication
Account creation is optional. The extension's core functionality works without an account.
Prompt Text
When you use the extension, the prompt text you enter is stored on your device to enable delivery into AI chatbot services. If you are logged in, your prompt history may also be synced to our server so that it is not lost if the browser is reinstalled or the user moves to a different computer.
File Attachments
If you attach files to a prompt, the file contents are held temporarily in your browser's memory to enable delivery into AI chatbot services. File data is never sent to our servers and is discarded after sending.
Session History
The extension stores a history of your multi-chat sessions, including:
- URLs of opened AI chatbot tabs
- The first 100 characters of each prompt (for session identification)
- Timestamps of when sessions were created
This history is always stored locally on your device. Only if you are logged in, the history may be synced to our server. By using the service without logging in, the prompt history is only stored locally on your device.
User Preferences
The extension stores your preferences locally on your device, including:
- Which AI services are enabled or disabled
- Keyboard shortcut configuration preferences
In future we may for user convenvience sync your preferences to our server but only if you choose to create an account and log in with it.
How Your Data Is Used
Account Authentication
If you create an account, your email and password are transmitted to our server (api.multi-ai.chat) solely for the purpose of creating and authenticating your account. We do not use your email for marketing or share it with third parties.
Prompt Delivery
Your prompt text is used to:
- Store the prompt while AI chatbot tabs load
- Send the prompt into each AI chatbot's input field
- Partially stored on your device for you to view your history
- Only synced to our server if you choose to create an account and logged in with said account
Session History and Sync
Session history is used to allow you to restore previous multi-chat sessions and return to ongoing conversations. If you are logged in, session history may be synced to our server so that it is not lost if the browser is reinstalled or the user moves to a different computer.
Data Storage
Local Storage (on your device)
The following data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:
- Prompt text: Stored locally for delivery into AI services
- File attachments: Temporary, held in browser memory only (never written to disk or sent to our servers)
- Session history: Persistent, stored locally on your device, in future may sync only if using with a logged in account.
- User preferences: Persistent, stored locally, only synced if you use it with a logged in account.
- Session token: If logged in, a session token is stored locally to maintain your authenticated session
Server Storage (api.multi-ai.chat)
If you create an account, the following data is stored on our server:
- Email address — retained until you delete your account
- Password — retained until you delete your account
- Session history — if logged in, your prompt history (including prompt snippets, URLs, and timestamps) may be synced and stored on our server so that it is not lost if the browser is reinstalled or the user moves to a different computer; retained until you delete your account
- We do not gaurantee retention of your data, preferences or history.
Data Sharing
Third-Party AI Services
When you submit a prompt, it is sent directly from your browser to the AI services you have enabled:
- Google Gemini (gemini.google.com) — governed by Google's Privacy Policy
- OpenAI ChatGPT (chatgpt.com) — governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy
- xAI Grok (grok.com) — governed by xAI's Privacy Policy
- Anthropic Claude (claude.ai) — governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy
- DeepSeek (chat.deepseek.com) — governed by DeepSeek's Privacy Policy
Important: Your prompts and file attachments are sent directly from your browser to these services. We do not intercept or read the content of your prompts in transit to these services.
No Other Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties.
Data Security
- All communication with AI services and our server occurs over HTTPS (encrypted in transit)
- Local data is protected by your browser's built-in security mechanisms
- No external analytics or tracking services are used
Data Retention
- File attachments: Discarded from memory after sending (seconds)
- Session history: Retained locally on your device; if synced to our server, retained until you delete the data or your account
- User preferences: Retained locally until you change them or uninstall the extension
- Account data (email, password): Retained on our server until you request account deletion
Your Rights
You can:
- Use the extension without creating an account
- Clear your session history at any time through the extension
- Choose which AI services to use for each prompt
- Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at support@multi-ai.chat
- Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data
Children's Privacy
This extension is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
